Please read below about a few regular Verm-X users:

Nicola Wilson:
We are delighted to sponsor top event rider Nicola Wilson.

North Yorkshire-based Nicola uses Verm-X on her fourteen competition horses to keep them in the best of health and free from intestinal challenges. Gentle on the digestive system, Verm-X is ideal for horses in competition as its natural formulation does not pose any threat to performance and is gentle on the digestive system.

Nicola and her top ride Opposition Buzz (pictured) were part of the GB Gold Medal Winning team at the World Equestrian Games in 2010. They also had an excellent run at Badminton last year finishing in seventh place. Nicola has four horses qualified for the London 2012 Olympics.

Said Philip Ghazala of Verm-X: “Nicola’s talent is astounding; we are delighted to be supporting her and her team of horses. More and more horse owners are turning to natural products as they are completely safe, avoid resistance problems and are more ecological than drugs.”

Verm-X is also the only product of its type allowed for use on organic holdings such as the one on which Nicola’s horses are kept.

Stepney City Farm:
Based in the heart of Stepney, in London’s East End, Stepney City Farm provide a severely deprived community with an opportunity to experience rural life and interact with animals. A meeting place bringing people from all walks of life together the farm provides therapeutic and educational benefits to all those wishing to get involved.

Animals at the farm include cattle, donkeys, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits and ferrets, and of course a couple of farm cats.

The farm run several targeted volunteering schemes for vulnerable adults and children, operate a mobile farm for school visits, a chick incubator programme and also numerous craft workshops.

Stepney City Farm has made a positive impact on an estimated 4,500 people in the last year alone, with some 800 of these reached through the delivery of specific projects thanks to the dedicated team of staff and volunteers with specialist skills.

The farm is strongly structured around the permaculture principles, and to enhance this, the farm rears their animals as organically as possible. As Verm-X is the only approved product of its type for use on organic farms and has several Green Apple Awards, recognising Environmental Best Practice, it was the obvious choice for Stepney City Farm.

Verm-X Managing Director Philip Ghazala feels passionately about the incredible services the farm provides to the community: “Stepney City Farm is a fantastic place that has enhanced the lives of so many people, providing them with valuable opportunities to learn about, and experience first-hand, a working farm.

We are delighted to provide all of the animals with Verm-X and look forward to regular visits to the farm to see the progress and exciting developments the enterprising staff and volunteers are constantly working towards.”

Veteran Horse Society:
For years Verm-X has been used on the horses kept by the charity Veteran Horse Welfare.

Based in Cardigan, Wales, Veteran Horse Welfare is solely dedicated to the care and welfare of horses and ponies over the age of 15 years.

Launched in 2001, and run by Julianne Aston, Veteran Horse Welfare has developed into a large professional organisation, which now houses 20+ horses and ponies, some who are looking to be re-homed.

Said Julianne: “As Verm-X is a natural product it is very good for the older horses and ponies, especially as we have no idea of their history. Some suffer from colic bouts and ragwort damage and they have very delicate stomachs so it is such a relief not to have to use chemicals at all.

“We are delighted to work with Verm-X and very much appreciate all the support they have provided over the years.” Verm-X has effectively kept the resident horses free of intestinal challenges with complete success.

Said Philip Ghazala of Verm-X: “Veteran Horse Welfare do a fantastic job looking after so many veterans after they have given their owners and riders years of enjoyment. The team also provides excellent advice and information to owners of veteran horses and ponies. It is a pleasure to support such a worthwhile cause.”

Rachael Claridge:
Gloucestershire-based international endurance rider Rachael Claridge is a fanstastic rider and a delight to have support our work. Rachael has been using Verm-X on her competition horses for over six years and quarterly worm counts assure Rachael that it is doing its job.

Said Rachael: “I am delighted to have support from Verm-X having been a fan of the products for years. I decided to use Verm-X as it is a natural product and there is a lot of research behind it. I feed my horses on home-grown produce and keep them as naturally as possible; they have to be in excellent health to compete in endurance.”

As an FEI Endurance rider Rachael has trained and competed at International level for many years and represented Great Britain as a Young and Senior Rider at venues all over the world. As well as competing, Rachael also works with her mother Jo Claridge (Chairman of EnduranceGB) at the family stud - Phoenix Field Arabians.

Philip Ghazala of Verm-X is thrilled with the partnership: “Rachael is a fantastic rider and ambassador for the sport we are very pleased to be supporting her and her talented team of horses.”

Stuart Wilkinson:
Birds of Prey Veteran Stuart Wilkinson carried out a 3 month trial on our Raptor product when it was first released. Below is Stuart’s report on how he got on:

“I have now completed the three month trial of Verm-X for birds of prey and once again, I would like to thank your company for allowing me the opportunity to carry out the assessment.

Verm-X was administered to a total of fourteen birds ranging in size from American Kestrels weighing less than five ounces, up to an Eagle Owl weighing around 5 pounds.

The powder was given, sprinkled onto partially skinned day old chicks (I use turkey chicks for convenience). The skin of the breast is peeled back, the Verm-X sprinkled on and the skin then pulled back into place to seal in the powder and the food then given to each bird.

As I feed my birds twice daily, then the Verm-X was given at both feeds and was given for three consecutive days each month.
It is interesting to note that all birds treated with Verm-X showed an increase in appetite for a day or two after the powder was discontinued at the end of three days.

I also noticed that the birds seemed to enjoy the taste of the powder, and was also aware of the lovely herby aroma upon the birds’ breath for a couple of days after feeding.

My birds all look extremely well and fit after being given the three courses of Verm-X, although none of the birds are flying at the moment as each and every one is moulting. The moult is progressing normally and new feathers look strong.

A case of some interest concerns a female Harris Hawk which I purchased from an amateur falconer. The hawk had been fed upon ex- racing pigeons which were badly infected by mites. These mites then infected the hawk where they proceeded to damage the feathers on the belly of the bird – the feathers were badly ‘chewed’ by the mites and were obviously causing much discomfort to the hawk (as they did to me, crawling on my skin when I handled the bird!).

Normally I would have applied a mite and louse powder (to the bird, not me!), but instead I opted to give Verm-X a try, and within a day or two of the third application, no more mites remained. The bird is now clear and the damaged feathers are moulting out and are being replaced by new, undamaged plumage. I have a small amount of Verm-X remaining which I hope to try out on some American Kestrel chicks, due to hatch in about two weeks time, and which I intend to hand-rear.

I have no hesitation in recommending Verm-X for use with birds of prey of all kinds – (could I suggest you name the product, ‘Verm-X Raptor’) as it certainly does what it says on the packet.” It is wonderful to work with someone as knowledgeable as Stuart is.
