Verm-X for Horses & Ponies
Our Verm-X Equine formulation was the first product in the Verm-X range. Our Company Director, Philip Ghazala, was concerned about the amount of chemicals he was using on his own animals and was shocked to find no alternatives available on the market. For this reason, from day one, Verm-X has not been about replacing chemicals but about giving people an option.
Everyday people call us in a similar position as the one Philip was in, concerned about their use of chemicals, concerned about resistances and wanting to know what their options are.
The majority of our customers use Verm-X solely and we are very confident that with Verm-X you can get the results you want. We also have customers who use Verm-X and alternate its use with pharmaceutical products. Carrying out a routine like this is completely safe as there are no ingredients in Verm-X that would stop the work of or inhibit the work of any ingredient used in pharmaceutical products, or vica-versa.
As well as herbs to control intestinal challenges there are herbs in Verm-X for blood cleansing and others for gut maintenance. The herbs included in Verm-X have been carefully blended together to work synergistically with each other. We are also always receiving reports from horse owners that their horses look extremely well following a course of Verm-X.
Our Equine formulation is available in 3 forms – a liquid, a powder and a pellet.
Our liquid form is administered every month for 3 consecutive days (full feeding instructions are shown on the packaging.) Verm-X Horse Liquid is designed to be added into drinking water which proves particularly useful for owners of larger herds of horses kept together.
Our powder form is administered for 5 consecutive days every 3 months (full feeding instructions are shown on the packaging.) The powder is quite fine and so does need mixing in with a feed. This form of our product is particularly popular with owners whose horses are prone to laminitis or cushings as it is simply a blend of our equine herbs with nothing else added. This also helps us to keep the pricing low making this form particularly cost effective.
Finally our pelleted form is our most popular formulation. Verm-X Equine Pellets are fed for 5 consecutive days every 3 months (full feeding instructions are shown on the packaging.) Although the pellets can be mixed into a feed they are designed to be fed from your hand as a treat and contain a small amount of aniseed and molasses to make them extra tasty.
All three of these forms are designed to be equally as effective and are simply designed to give you different options depending on what works best for your routine.
It is crucial that all grazed paddocks, particularly used for horses, undergo vigilant pasture management. Picking up droppings will help but it is not the full answer. Paddocks should always have periods of rest for several weeks at different times of the year. Horse-sick pastures will prevent any control management programme from being effective over a period of time. Control methods under these conditions may show a reduction of infestation in the horse immediately after use but in a short period the count may soon increase if the horse is grazing poorly managed pastures.
Verm-X is completely natural and is ideal for horses kept on organic farms.
The Veteran Horse Society recommends Verm-X for older horses.

My horse suffers from aliments such as cushing’s disease and laminitis, is Verm-X suitable?
Yes, the herbs used in the Verm-X formulations contain many general health properties that can prove invaluable to horse owners looking to use the product on horses with a range of different sensitivities.
Along with its effective control properties Verm-X contains herbs that work gently on the animals’ digestive system. Verm-X is used and supported by The Veteran Horse Society for this reason.
Why do I have to wait 21 days before carrying out a faecal egg count?
To get the most accurate result it is important to wait 21 days form the last day Verm-X is fed. This is because Verm-X works over a more natural timesclae which is what makes Verm-X so gentle on your horses system.
Can I compete my horse whilst feeding them Verm-X?
Yes. As Verm-X is 100% herbal and non-toxic, it does not contravene current FEI or Jockey Club rulings. However, as rulings continually change it is up to our individual clients to check with their respective association.
If my dog eats droppings from my horse that has been fed Verm-X does it have the same serious or even fatal effects that chemical products can have on dogs in this situation?
No. Verm-X is 100% herbal and does not pose a danger to your dog or any other animal.
My horse is in foal, can I still use Verm-X on her? Also, is it safe to use whilst she is feeding her foal?
Yes, Verm-X is completely safe to use throughout pregnancy and also when the mare is feeding her young.
Can resistances be built up against herbal formulations such as Verm-X?
The active ingredients in Verm-X are all herbal and natural. Herbs have been used for centuries and there are no reported cases of resistance.
Your feeding instructions seem very weight specific, how can I ensure I am feeding the right amount?
All our products come with a measuring scoop or measuring beaker specific to the different formulations to make them easy to use.
Please note our free of charge worm count kits offered in some pack sizes are for use only within the UK.
