Verm-X, the leading name in natural parasite control is celebrating after winning, for the third time, a national award for helping the environment.

Somerset farmer and businessman Philip Ghazala and his family have secured a prestigious Green Apple Award for environmental best practice.

Philip runs the nationally renowned business Verm-X, well known for their range of leading natural parasite control products for horses, poultry, sheep, goats, alpacas, dog and cats.

At the awards ceremony at the Tower of London, Philip was presented with the Green Apple Award in the Farming and Agriculture sector against some of the country’s leading companies.

The Green Apple Environment Awards recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world.

The judges rewarded Verm-X for their successfully researched and manufactured range of effective natural parasite control formulations covering both agricultural and domestic animals.

In his opening speech David Bellamy expressed congratulations to what he called "these Champions of British Industry" and went on to say how the reduction of chemical usage is paramount for our whole environment.

In addition to supporting the Green Apple Awards David Bellamy committed to have a tree planted for each Green Apple Award winner to promote his Tree Appeal movement he promotes with Bill Oddie.

A delighted Philip Ghazala added: “We were extremely pleased to win this award.  To successfully enter a pharmaceutical dominated market whilst running as a diversified family business from our converted dairy farm is certainly a cause for celebration!"
